During our September Pro-D, staff engaged in a Mathematics & Numeracy session given by our District Mathematics and Numeracy Teacher Consultant, Janice Novakowski. During our staff survey, 60% of our staff identified they would like to expand their understanding and ability in supporting the diversity of the learners in their classroom. We spent the day with a focus on planning and designing for learning for the diversity in our classrooms, use of instructional routines and the use of math materials. Our next steps include diving deeper into numeracy tasks and creating opportunities for bridging language into mathematics. As a staff, we will continue to engage in professional learning in the area of Math on our Pro D days this year.
