Division 5 students - grade two and three students are diving into their eportfolios to communicate their learning. This week the students were presented with the prompts Now, Not Yet and Next Steps. Students were invited to choose a piece of learning from their portfolios. The class chose writing. Students were asked to celebrate or comment on what aspect of the learning they were most proud of. Listening to their thinking during this process was intriguing. Students had to be prompted to see a strength in their writing. Self reflection is a skills we sometimes think students possess however we learned from the data that self reflection is a skill learned over many years. It our hope to track these students until they reach grade 7 to see how their self assessment skills evolve and grow.
