At Quilchena We Care, Quilchena CARES

Our staff met in November 2019 with the goal of creating a social responsilbity matrix that all of our staff and students would understand. Our staff studied examples from other schools and then collaboratively created our own visual. One staff person drew the idea on the app Paper and was able to visually represent the ideas of the staff.

In February our school community gathered in family teams to develop common understandings of our anchor ideas - collaboration, accepting, responsibility and respect and empathy. Students were able to work with their K- 7 team and talk about what these words mean. Students went back to their classes and finished their visual representations. One class - Ms. Deacons's class added S for safety so we altered our language to At Quilchena We Care, Quilchena CARES. These visuals and the students ideas are incorporated into daily announcements. As well teachers integrated these ideas into their weekly learning plans.
