In January, we wanted to check in with our students to see how they were connecting with math and do a deeper dive to see how they were feeling about themselves as math learners. Students were asked the following questions: 1) Do you have a favourite math activity? 2) Is there a topic that you wish you could understand better? 3) What materials do you prefer to use to help you with math? 4) When you think about math, how does it make you feel Discovering key patterns can help us as educators work towards finding what the engagement is for students. The more students feel connected and enjoy doing something, the better we can foster their engagement.
