During our November Professional Development Day, staff wanted to dig deeper and reframe the questions from our School Scan. We wanted to see how kids connected to their school community and to this place. Our students were asked the following questions: 1) How have you made connections inside your classroom? 2) How have you made connections outside of your classroom? 3) In these spaces (inside/outside), have you made new connections? How? How did it make you feel? 4) What type of connecting activities did you enjoy and why?

Staff also brainstormed ways to provide activities and conversations that were intentional to help students connect with not only their classroom peers, but with the whole school community, including the adults in the building. We also shifted our daily morning walk focus to be more purposeful with Walking Wednesday Connecting Buddies where we coached students on how to have meaningful conversations with one another and Friday Friends where students connected with cross grade classes and read together at the start of the day.
